Saturday
I went to YouTube for a fun ab workout: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dCyCBRXW8M&
and I was sore for days!
Monday - Story Time
About 20 minutes in, my workout was interrupted.
Daniel was tapping on my shoulder.
I looked up and he said let's go, we're leaving.
It sounded pretty serious, so I started packing up immediately and asked what was going on {because something was definitely going on}.
He told me a very short version of the following:
Daniel & his workout buddy were on the bench. The gym is currently in the middle of re-painting all the walls. The painter was near them and kept inching closer. When the painter had to start moving equipment around them, he {the painter} decided it was time to get the manager.
The manager came up to the two of them on the bench and said he had to keep that man working so they needed to move.
The workout buddy said okay and that they would be finished with their set in just a minute and would move.
The manager thought that was a good time to threaten them and told them that if they didn't move he would revoke their membership.
Daniel about blew a fuse about this whole thing. He figured they gym isn't open 24/7, they could paint the popular areas during closed hours. He also thought that was absolute poor customer service. Daniel figured that the reason he can pay that painter and "keep him working" is because of the money they get from customers like us who have been going to this gym for years. Customers who don't complain about the stupid "gym improvement fee" for $50 twice a year for BOTH of our accounts.
At that point is when Daniel came and told me we were going.
Daniel NEVER gets upset like that. Very rare occurrence. So I knew whatever it was had to have been valid enough for us to be leaving like that, so I followed silent & supportive.
I followed him as he stormed straight back to the manager, up front now, and he took our membership cards and handed them straight to the manager to be cancelled.
Just like that, there goes our gym for the past several years.
We were already on edge about their crappy service and the way they handle just about everything. This, this just pushed us over the edge.
For those who are curious, it was Gold's Gym. I only liked that gym and put up with its crap for two reasons: 1. the women's weight room {awesome}. 2. Amie, the best damn spin instructor I've ever come across.
Yes, I'll miss Amie. Yes, I'll miss the privacy of my workouts in the women's weight room, but hey, it's time to be brave and try something new. Step out of my comfort zone even more.
So, by 945a Monday morning, Daniel & I were in the market for a new gym.
Friday
By Friday {today}, we found ourselves a new gym. We went gym shopping on Thursday. After visiting several types and locations. We settled on something simple. No classes {I was biased and only wanted Amie's class}, no pools, spas, or saunas {we didn't utilize them much anyway}, and no contracts & fees {that shit pisses me off}.
We settled on Performance Fitness 24/7.
It's close by, cheap, monthly, no contracts, no fees, no extra crap. Just a gym. A brand-spankin' new gym at that, which means brand new equipment that all works and looks nice.
We thought we'd start the next week off at our new gym, so on Friday I just did yoga at home. Another Strala video & Office yoga at work ;)
