This week I bring you another workout from Blogilates! I love her and have followed her for at least a year or so.
I also love her talk at the end about moderation. That's the theory I aim for.

Let me know if you tried this workout

Mind Your Mondays

This Mind Your Mondays I want to remind you to go out and try new things, step out of your comfort zone {even if just a little bit} and have fun with it.
In February I made a list called "25 by 25" where I listed off 25 things I wanted to do by the time I turn 25. Well I have until February 16th to complete that list and I'm not doing too bad, but I've come to realize some of those things are just not happening.
I'm getting off track here...
One item on that list was to try 25 new things. I'm somewhere around the 14 mark, but here is one of the new things I tried.
I painted.
I went to a place called Design & Wine in Las Vegas and we followed step-by-step instructions on how to create the painting for the day we chose. The painting was called "Autumn Love"
The entire experience was awesome. The drinking was necessary to help me care less about "doing it right" and the music was fun to sing & dance along with while trying to get just enough water mixed in with your brown so you can make trees.
I'll admit again that this was not my forte, but I had a ton of fun and will definitely be going again. I also would like to try painting on my own. Though I don't believe I can create anything that resembles a scene of any kind without instruction.

Saturday

Saturday was yoga day in my Nike+ Training Club app. It was only 15 minutes, but it wasn't easy. There were plank variations in there that really threw me {down on the ground}. Let's just say it's not my typical yoga, but I'm excited to try it next week!

Monday

I started off running an easy going mile on the Las Vegas Strip via iFit & Google Maps on my treadmill at the gym. It makes running pretty fun, especially for me because I dislike treadmills.
The Nike+ program had me do a 30min workout called Body Flexor {same as last week}.

Tuesday

Around 5ish in the morning Daniel & I headed for the gym to run 3 miles. I set up a map in San Francisco for this one. I know what you're thinking, but it wasn't on the hilly roads, it was around Crissy Fields which is primarily flat. I enjoyed seeing the Golden Gate bridge in the distance near the end of my run.
Afterwards, Daniel & I decided to try and play around with the gyms boxing station thingy. We played and had a lot of fun. The wall by the station has workouts/combos for you to do and we had a blast and really got our heart rates up.

Wednesday

Wednesday is typically a rest day, but I have been feeling amazing so I did a spontaneous workout. I danced like a crazy person. See all the details on my blog post {here}.

Thursday

Thursdays are always killer because my "Monday" is Wednesday night, so getting home from work around 730am on Thursday makes it hard to want to workout. I force myself to drop everything and get it started because if I wait around I know it won't happen. On Thursdays Nike brings me a 45min workout. This time it was a different one than last week and it was called Dream Team. I actually really enjoyed it compared to last weeks workout.

Friday

Friday is another 3 mile run. I decided to redo the same route from Tuesday in Crissy Fields. I kicked Tuesdays butt by 3 whole minutes. I'm pretty happy with that.
After my run I rested up and then decided on a 9 minute workout at the boxing station. I died.
I rested up a little bit again and then wanted to try out the fancy spin bikes they had. These things are crazy. When you increase the resistance it actually moves the bike machine up in an incline, like a treadmill. It also has gears and crap. Crazy, I tell you. I had fun for a quick mile and then Daniel & I decided it was time to get out of there! Two hours at the gym is enough.

Tell me about your week in fitness!!

Workout Wednesday

Some of my favorite workouts are the impromptu kind. The kind where you just get an idea and run with it {possibly literally}.
This Workout Wednesday I bring you....Dancing.
I'm not talking Zumba or anything organized.

I'm talking about unorganized, untamed, completely wild and possibly ugly dancing.

Crank up the tunes in your house or if your speakers don't do the music and dancing justice then possibly plug in your headphones and then just let it all out.
Dancing like nobody's business nonstop for a couple songs is a killer workout and should not be overlooked.
Dip, jump, wiggle, pump, swing, nod, rock it and shake everything for an entire song and hit repeat if you love it enough. Just go crazy (but don't smash your head into a door or leg into a table).
I also feel that the music needs to be pretty loud for you to really get into it and get that heart going. It may feel awkward at first, especially if you look like a fish having a seizure {like me}, but just keep going at it...it's worth it and feels good.
I wore my Microsoft Fitness Band while going at it for about a half hour to show you that this isn't just for fun.
The parts where my heart rate dips down were likely when I had to take care of my phone acting retarded ;)
See? This is a legit workout folks!
It even says my recovery time is about 14hrs, psssh like I'm not going to dance for 14hrs, that's poppycock!
P.S. I love how my fitness band makes crazy dancing justified now ;)

Thought I'd share screenshots of my Crazy Dancing playlist!
{I knew you were curious}
I didn't get through all of them during my 30 min dancing session, but I had a great time!
Out of these songs, my favorites for getting the heart pumping would be:
*Back In Time
*Timber
*I Love It
*Shake It Out
*Berzerk
But like I said, I haven't made it through the whole list yet!
To further the difficulty of this workout, sing along!
My plain ol' generic music app on my phone shows fun visuals and also downloads the lyrics to songs. I can then cast it to my tv via Chromecast {which also lets the music play on the good sound system} and it looks something like what you see below.

Monday

Yes, I like to match my fitness band color to my nails ;)
I started a Nike+ Training Club program on Monday with a 30min workout called Body Flexor. I detailed more about this app on a post {here}.
Before I began, I tried an incline training program and it put me all the way up to 25% incline at one point. I was sweating like crazy!

Tuesday

Picture
The program wanted me to run easy for 3 miles. It's been a while since I actually ran. So, I walked/jogged easy for 3 miles on the treadmills at the gym with Daniel around 4 am. Nice to have someone support your program, even if it's just a little bit ;)
After our 3 miles Daniel lead me through some dumbbell exercises & I led him through some ab work.

Thursday

Picture
I get off work at 7am and arrive home around 730. To make sure I didn't skip my workout, I changed clothes and set up for my workout almost immediately after getting home. The Nike program had me doing a 45min workout called Tighten Up. Daniel came home near the halfway point and I'm finally at a place where it doesn't matter who sees me during a workout. So I kept on ;)
BTW I love that the program leads you through your warm up & your cool down.

Friday

This called for another easy 3 miles. I was planning on kicking Tuesday's ass, but I also wanted to try out one of the iFit features where you map out a route and then virtually run it on the treadmill. I thought I chose a fairly simple route...I have no idea why I thought that. I mapped out 3 miles in Zion. The roads, not the trails. I thought the roads weren't that hilly. I was wrong. The incline was anywhere from 4.5% up to 11%. Not the most ideal for running on a treadmill, whenever it dipped below 5% I would run. This unfortunately didn't happen often haha! This left me walking practically the whole thing. I was upset that I couldn't show myself up, but I was also happy I finally tried out this cool feature. It really is fun. Can't wait to try it again! AFTER I kick my own trash on Tuesday ;)

Workout Wednesday

You've probably noticed that I've missed some posts. Yea, I've been away from the computer lately. Not by choice originally, but after listening to my body & mind tell me I needed some space...I gave it some space and took a big step back. I'll detail a blog post about it tomorrow.
As for today, I bring you a workout resource!
While I was away, I took a more focused approach to my fitness and dived head first into Nike+ Training Club. It's marketed for women and it's badass.
You pick a program and edit it to your liking. Then you follow it.
I put the phone in my armband, put my headphones in and killed my first workout of the program while at the gym. They tell you everything you have to do, what workout is coming, how long you have left, how to do it properly, they even show you.
It syncs with your Nike+ running app so if you choose to add running into your program then it all works together.
I love how it literally tells you what to do, I followed it at the gym and liked how I didn't have time to think or talk myself out of anything. I just did it. {haha see what I did there}
Check it out for yourself! {Click Here}

It's time for some yoga videos!! I chose several different types of yoga workouts and a few different instructors so you can choose what works best for you. Let me know which one that is! My personal favorite is Tara Stiles. She's the reason I found yoga and the reason I keep at it. I also love a good mixture between strong, flexible, and relaxing flows. The strong flow types really kick my butt. The flexible flows are fun and challenging for someone like me who needs to progress in that area. Then the relaxing flows are my favorite.

Mind Your Mondays

I typically like to post "Mind Your Mondays" first thing in the morning. This week I felt I needed to wait and see what Monday would bring me. I had a feeling that Monday would bring something I wanted to share. And it did.

Monday brought newness, change, motivation, and excitement.

Mind Your Mondays
I thought it was quite fitting.
All over town I noticed the leaves changing as well. It's beautiful. Funny how life changes were brought with the weather.
About damn time, if you ask me.
If you keep up with this blog, you'll know that I needed a new gym and found one nearby {blog post here}.
We finally visited this gym and officially signed up today. So far, we both love it.
The treadmills have these fancy tablets that do all sorts of stuff for your workout. I'm most excited to try out a feature that lets you map out a route anywhere in the U.S and then the treadmill is supposed to change incline accordingly.
Talk about one of the best ways to train for out-of-state races! I'll keep you updated on how it works out.
Good things fall apart so better things can fall together
In other news, a project of mine is finally moving LEAPS forward!
I'm in the process of transitioning one of the rooms in my house to a photography studio! It's been in the works for about a month with little traction. Then I had some help {thanks Mom!}.
When the whole project is complete I'll have a link to my photo blog sharing the details ;)

Since I've managed to keep my nails unbitten for two whole weeks straight, I decided a reward was needed ;)
Enter a trip to Ulta for a couple nail polishes & NYX lip goodies ❤
If you're interested I'll do a mini blog post sharing my tiny splurge.

My Microsoft fitness band has been a blast! If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen me share my newly acquired fitness gadget. I'm aiming to get a video up around Thursday to share my review. So far, it's pretty nifty and today I managed to actually try recording some workouts. Up until today I've been just recording my sleeping habits ;)

To keep up with this theme of newness, I picked a completely new flavor at our favorite smoothie shop {Emerald City Smoothie}.

My motto for this year was to try new things...I love what it's been doing for me!!

What new things have you tried lately?

A week ago I submitted this info to my newsletter subscribers! Always be the first to know what's going on --> Sign up for the Newsletter!

THe Votes Are In...

Book Club
A couple weeks ago you guys were voting on which 4 books you wanted to be in the book club next year.
To sum things up:
  • I chose four books so it was leisurely and easy to keep up with.
  • I had us voting now to give us time to buy the book before hand.
  • I also asked how you wanted me to reveal the books {all at once or one at a time}
  • If you're curious as to which books people picked from {Go Here}
The Results Are In
As you can see, The 12 Week Year is the first book.
You guys chose some awesome books! I even had to keep the poll open an extra day or so to help break the tie I had between two of them!
The majority of you voted for me to reveal the books one at a time in my Newsletter! To be the first to know of the books as the year progresses, make sure you're signed up for the newsletter!!
I revealed this one now to give us time to get it before January. Then we have all of January through March to read it. In the March Newsletter I'll reveal the next book.
I'm excited about the books you all chose. Doing book clubs help force me to get my hands on books that I usually put off.

Are You Excited?
Which book do you hope made the list?
